The light overlooking the mouth of the Black River in South Haven, Michigan entered service in 1872. The wooden tower was replaced with the current, cast iron tower in 1903. It took 10 workers a little more than a month to complete the job. In 1913, the light was moved to its current place at the end of the pier. The catwalk runs from the shore to the light and provided a way for the keeper to access the light during inclement weather. It is original and only one of four such catwalks that sill survive in Michigan.

Parasail surfing involves a large, inflatable wing tethered to a surfer who is connected to a surfboard. Using the airfoil, the user harnesses the power of the wind to provide motion. The surfer uses the wind to head out into the open water, then turn and race back towards shore. With timing, they can obtain great heights above the waves.

I developed an interest in photography at a young age, often following my father around while he took pictures. From that I learned the basics and purchased my first camera while still in high school. I learned more through reading and trial and error. My first formal training came in 2013 when I took a basic photography class at a community college. During high school I became fascinated with the freighters that sailed on the lakes. The boats intrigued me and for a time I wanted to work on them. My career took me down a different path, but I never lost my interest in the boats.
