Artist's Description
Veterans Memorial Tower is located at the summit of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts. It was commissioned in 1930 to commemorate the dead from World War I, and later for subsequent conflicts. It stands 93 feet tall and was at the time the brightest light in Massachusetts.
The tower was closed in 2013 because water was getting into and damaging the structure. After a $2.6 restoration, the tower opened to the public in June of 2017.
