In 1961 the Pioneer Steamship Company folded she was sold to the Ford Motor Company and renamed the Ernest R. Breech. As the steel industry dried up in the 1980s, she began hauling grain.
In 1988 she was sold the Kinsman Lines and renamed the Kinsman Independent. She ran hard aground in 1990 and suffered extensive damage, making repairs doubtful. However, she was towed to Thunder Bay and repairs were done during the 1990-1991 winter layup.
In 2005 she was sold to Voyageur Marine Transport Ltd. and renamed Voyageur Independent. She underwent extensive refitting and work on her propulsion systems.
In 2007 Lower Lakes Towing acquired the Voyageur Independent and in 2008 renamed her the Ojibway.
Her length of 642 feet, beam of 67 feet and depth of 35 feet enable her to carry 20,668 tons of cargo.
Here, the upbound Ojibway exits the Saint Clair River as she passes under the Blue Water Bridge heading into Lake Huron.
