Description
Crosswinds Marsh is a 1,050 acre mitigated wetland consisting of open marsh, wet meadows, forested wetlands, and upland forests. The park trail system and boardwalks allow park visitors viewing opportunities of a variety of wildlife. Crosswinds offers seven miles of hiking trails, fishing, picnic areas, 4.5 miles of horseback riding trails, and 4.5 miles of cross-country ski trails.
The marsh was created in 1995 with a budget of $18.1M to replace wetlands destroyed by the expansion of Detroit Metro Airport. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife including a nesting pair of bald eagles.
Here, the sun sets just after a summer storm passes.
